To know about Emotional
Transformations
®
LLC
is really to know about the
heart of the business,
the owner and practitioner,
Margaret McGill.

Margaret weaves psychological education throughout all of her work, enriching it with nuances as varied as dream interpretation and spiritual illumination.  Her main focus is to assist others to free up their emotions so they can more fully express their authentic selves, and thus experience more joy in life.  Margaret's practice is a culmination of a lifetime of career, personal and business experiences.  From these experiences, she has synthesized a new form of personal exploration entitled Authentology®, which is the art of finding one’s personal truths through emotional self-discovery.

Margaret is a career woman, lifetime student, mother of four children, and wife.  She was born in East Los Angeles, California, and has been a resident of Arizona since 1978.  Margaret has been married to her second husband, Guy, since 1988.   Between formal and self-directed education, Margaret considers that she has been in “school” for most of her life.

She began her first career as a missionary at the age of 21, traveling throughout Latin America for eight years.  Her work consisted largely of establishing and administering rehabilitation centers for young at-risk clients who had drug and alcohol problems; it also included teaching Montessori for pre-school children.  Margaret raised funds for these programs through lectures and theatrical presentations on Mexican television channels.  These TV programs aired in various northern Mexico cities and San Diego. She also educated the public on her rehabilitation programs through a weekly radio show.  Both the TV and radio shows provided a forum for additional public education and speaking engagements.

Margaret returned to the US in 1978, and shortly thereafter returned to college.  During this period, Margaret divorced her first husband, and as a single mother, continued to further her formal education while supporting her family.  She completed her studies for Practical Nursing in 1985, gained her Associates Degree in 1987, and graduated from Arizona State University (ASU) with a Bachelors Degree in Communication in 1991.  Margaret’s awards include the 1985/86 Outstanding Speaker at Glendale Community College, and the 1991 Outstanding Senior in Oral Interpretation and Performance Studies at ASU.  Margaret was also honored as the Keynote Speaker at a National Convention for PEO, a charitable sorority.  During those “school” years, Margaret worked with suicidal teenagers and adults at the Southwest Behavioral Institute; she also worked at several nursing facilities as a geriatrics activity coordinator specializing in Alzheimer patients.

After graduating from ASU, Margaret transitioned into mainstream teaching.  She was Director of the Psychiatric Technicians Program for Apollo College, where she was responsible for curriculum, instruction and placement of medical externships.  Later she moved to Bryman College, where she taught business leadership and communication courses.  Concurrently with Bryman, Margaret taught the Nurses’ Assistant Program for the East Valley Institute of Technology at Dobson High School.  After Bryman, Margaret moved to Arizona’s largest charter High School, where she was Chair of the Science and Communication Departments; she created the Communication Department and taught related courses including Public Speaking, Drama, and Speech and Debate.

Prior to establishing her private practice in Tempe, Arizona, in 1998, Margaret was a counselor and instructor at Arizona Behavioral Counseling Services (ABC Services).  She delivered courses on Domestic Violence, Anger Management and Substance Abuse, to clients receiving court-ordered behavior modification instruction.  She also developed and provided enrichment instruction to other ABC Services counselors.

Among other special recognitions and achievements, Margaret received an award from Kiwanis as Successful Woman of the Year.  She was also selected as a guest co-host for Sonoran Living, a Phoenix-Arizona-based, live broadcast TV morning show.

In addition to the private and public programs she currently offers through Emotional Transformations® LLC, Margaret teaches Emotional Transformation classes at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona.   She currently resides in Chandler, Arizona, with her husband Guy and her two Chihuahua dogs, ChaCha and Lady.
